Workflow’s are what makes a system. Creative processes are not a top-down workflow but rather are non-linear, conceptual and are considered better if they are non-destructive. The idea of managing a workflow for creative processes helps to provide a means to the end of creative tasks such as Desktop Publishing, Media Production and Technical Illustration.

Desktop Publishing
Desktop publishing has been around for many a year and is one of the workflow of creative processes today. One will want to manage the digital document workflow with reuse in mind. Separating the content from the layout will allow the text editing to happen with those people that are experts in writing and layout professionals to do the layout. This may then be efficiently repurposed for the web then too by professional web layout designers.

Media Production
Media Production covers the areas of the creative processes of digital audio, digital image and digital video editing. The reuse of these resources are vital to be efficient and effective within a workflow.

Technical Illustration (Desktop Engineering)
Technical Illustration and/or Desktop Engineering cover a broad area of expertise but generally is data analysis in areas of financial, geospacial and scientific analysis. This is a true art form using data driven methodologies to derive a graphical representation of data. Some examples would be; CAD, financial reporting, Aerial Photography Interpretation, Remote Sensing (which I had the pleasure of studying as an undergrad) and many other.
